Introducing Dev8ed

Dev8ed is now officially underway at Aston University Conference Centre. We will be providing coverage of the event throughout the day to give you a flavour of the exciting work going on here in Birmingham.

Dev8ed is a free event for developers and educational technologists in the elearning space to come together to share their knowledge, expertise and experience to learn stuff and build stuff together. It a sister event for Dev8D, which is targeted at developers working in higher and further education.

The participants at Dev8ed will be making the programme for this event. There are opportunities for lightning talks, informal workshops, project work and challenges. A number of JISC funded projects will also have the opportunity to work together with developers to solve specific problems and challenges.

Gathered at the event are software developers, educational technologists, elearning specialists, lecturers, academics, librarians. 73% of attendees have classed themselves as developers, so we’re looking forward to some useful hacking to result from the event.

The event is funded by JISC, organised by DevCSI, supported by JISC Cetis, and sponsored by Blackboard and Amazon Web Services (who are offering free server space for projects during the event).

Th full programme (so far!) is available here.

You can follow tweets from the event live and contribute to the discussions using the event hash tag #dev8ed.
